Everything so far has been you asking and AI answering. A scheduled helper flips it: you set up a job once, and it runs every week without you asking. This is the most powerful idea in the course, so let’s be honest about what it costs and when it’s worth it.
Two ways Grok can work on a schedule
- Scheduled tasks in Grok: you get a chat working the way you like, save it, and set it to run daily, weekly or monthly. Guides describe this as a paid SuperGrok feature.
- Grok Bot: a separate xAI app (for computer and phone) where each Bot is a helper with its own job that keeps working after you close the app. It can browse the web, work with files, and connect to things like Gmail and Google Calendar. It needs a paid plan: a linked SuperGrok (or higher) or X Premium+ subscription, or certain Cursor plans. SuperGrok Lite doesn’t include it.
Prices and plan names change often. Check xAI’s own pricing page before you subscribe. Details here were checked in October 2026.
Is it worth paying for?
Only if a job happens every week and costs you real time. Good candidates:
- A Sunday meal plan built from this week’s grocery sales
- A Monday morning summary of school emails and the week’s calendar
- A weekly check on prices for something you’re saving up for
- Once you have a shop: a weekly look at what’s trending in your niche
If you’d only use it once a month, the free method below does the job.
Setting up your first Grok Bot
- Get the job right in chat first. Run the job by hand in Grok until the answer is exactly what you want. A bot repeats whatever you give it, good or bad.
- Install Grok Bot from xAI and sign in with the account that has your paid plan.
- Create a Bot. Start from a template or a blank chat, give it a clear name (“Sunday Supper”) and paste in the job.
- Connect only what it needs. If it needs your calendar, connect the calendar, not everything.
- Turn on approvals so it asks before sending messages, buying anything or deleting anything.
- Add a routine so it runs on a schedule, like every Sunday at 4pm.
- Check the first three runs closely before you trust it.
Sunday Supper bot job Grok Bot
Every Sunday at 4pm: find this week's sales at [store] near [town]. Plan 5 family dinners around the best deals for [who, food rules]. Busy nights are [days]. Give me the plan, one grocery list grouped by store section, and the sale prices you found with links. Don't buy or order anything.
The free way: a saved weekly prompt
No paid plan? You can get most of the benefit with a 30-second habit.
- Save the Sunday Supper job (above) in your phone’s notes.
- Set a repeating phone reminder for Sunday at 4pm: “Run Sunday Supper.”
- When it goes off, paste the job into Grok’s regular chat. Done.
It’s not automatic, but it’s free, and you stay in control of when it runs.
Keep your helper on a short leash
- Approvals on for sending, buying and deleting. Always.
- Least access: only connect the accounts the job needs.
- Review weekly for the first month. Turn it off if it’s not saving you time.
Try it tonight
Run the Sunday Supper job by hand in Grok. If the result is useful, set up the free weekly reminder. If you find yourself running it every single week, that’s when a scheduled helper might be worth paying for.
