These terms are the rules for using coopeduplife.com. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

Who we are

Cooped Up Life (“we”, “us”) is a personal blog written by Michelle B. and based in Georgia, USA. Contact: [email protected] or our contact page.

Who can use the site

The site is written for adults. You must be at least 13 to use it, and if you are under 18 you need a parent or guardian’s permission to comment or contact us.

I’m not an expert, and this isn’t professional advice

Everything here is general information and personal experience, shared by someone learning as she goes. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. In particular:

  • Animals: chicken, dog and cat posts are not veterinary advice. Call a vet about a sick or injured animal, and check your local rules before keeping backyard poultry.
  • Food: for canning and food preservation, follow tested guidance such as the USDA Complete Guide to Home Canning.
  • DIY and home projects: check permits and building codes, use proper safety gear, and hire a licensed professional for electrical, gas, structural or pool work.
  • Health and fitness: talk to your doctor before starting a new exercise routine, including VR fitness.
  • AI and the Disordered Brain: these posts describe personal experience and are not medical or mental health advice. If you are in crisis in the US, call or text 988.

You are responsible for the decisions you make based on anything you read here.

Content made with AI

Some content on this site is made with the help of AI tools, including the Cooped Up Studios drama and some images and drafts. We label AI-made work where it matters to understanding it. AI tools can make mistakes, so please double-check anything important.

Affiliate links

Some posts link to products we use or mention, including on Amazon. Right now these are plain links and we earn nothing from them. If we ever add affiliate links, we will say so clearly on the posts that use them, and commissions will never change what we say about a product: if something did not work for us, we will tell you.

Using our content

The words, photos, drawings and videos on this site belong to Cooped Up Life or to the people who licensed them to us. You are welcome to:

  • read and share links to any page;
  • quote a short excerpt with credit and a link back to the original post;
  • pin our images to Pinterest or share them on social media, as long as they link back to our page.

Please do not, without our written permission:

  • republish whole posts or substantial parts of them;
  • sell or commercially use our content;
  • scrape or bulk-download the site, or use our content to train AI models.

We occasionally show third-party material for commentary, criticism, teaching or news reporting, as allowed by the fair use provisions of US copyright law (17 U.S.C. § 107). We do not claim ownership of that material.

Copyright complaints

If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with: the work you own, the page address where it appears, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized, and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner, with your physical or electronic signature. We will review it promptly and remove material where appropriate.

Comments and things you send us

You keep ownership of anything you post or send. By posting a comment, you give us permission to display, store and moderate it on the site and in related social posts that link back to it. Please keep comments kind and on topic. We may edit or remove any comment, for any reason, including comments that are:

  • abusive, hateful, harassing or threatening;
  • spam, advertising or self-promotion;
  • someone else’s private information;
  • copied from someone else without permission, or otherwise illegal.

Things you may not do

Do not try to hack, overload or disrupt the site, get into areas you are not allowed in, spread malware, or use the site to break any law.

Links and embedded content

We link to other websites and embed videos from YouTube. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, products or privacy practices. Read their terms before you use them.

No warranties

The site and everything on it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that the content is accurate, complete or current, or that the site will always be available or free of errors.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cooped Up Life and Michelle B. are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss or injury that results from using the site or relying on its content. If we are found liable for anything, our total liability is limited to $100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Georgia law, such as liability for fraud, gross negligence or willful misconduct.

Indemnity

If someone makes a claim against us because of content you posted or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs, including legal fees, that result.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you have a problem with the site, please email us first; we will try to sort it out within 30 days. If we cannot, any legal action must be brought in the state or federal courts located in the State of Georgia, and you and we agree to the jurisdiction of those courts. Either of us may instead bring an eligible claim in a Georgia magistrate (small claims) court.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using the site after a change, the new terms apply from then on.

The legal fine print

These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about using the site. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term right away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later. We may transfer these terms to whoever takes over the site; you may not transfer them.
